Ah, Jamaica, stunning land of wood and water! It was never at the top of my destination wish list but my modeling job often takes me to amazing, unexpected places.
I managed to escape the Belgian rain to shoot for a magazine and flaunt my very first Summer outfits of the year in Jamaica!
The Caribbean is known for its relaxed pace of life, so during my time off shooting I took things slowly too. I explored the exotic beaches (very often from behind the pages of a thrilling book) and cruised along the coast to get lost in breathtaking views.
The mainland is a must-see too, with its flourishing forests, hidden caves and azure blue swimming holes. And did I mention the tropical climate, treating you with high temperatures all year 'round? Yup, this place is a dream.
I decided to stay close to the laid-back Jamaican attitude and faced the heat in loose, comfortable outfits only. I always rely on maxi dresses for these kind of trips, as they are so easy to style and keep the direct sun off your skin.
This 'Vifora' floral dress is a current favourite! The soft blue still reminds me of the Jamaican sea every time I bump into it in my closet!
Keeping things easy also means sticking to a certain colour palette so that you can endlessly combine your travel wardrobe during your stay. My top colours to bring are white and camel, as they blend together beautiful, especially if you’re a bit tanned.
I wore this camel 'Vigiliana' skirt with literally everything: a black strap top, a white puff sleeve blouse and even on top of my bathing suit on the beach. This is definitely a winner!
This early exotic trip made me so excited for the Summer months, but it also made me appreciate all the good things and outfits still to come in Spring… I’m a layer-maniac after all!
