Go behind the scenes of VILA! With our series, VILA Crew, you’ll get an inside view into our production of high street fashion. Read on and get to know VILA’s B2B Online Coordinator, decor fanatic, do-it-yourself crafty, art and Moomin-lover - and soon to be mom, Karoline Berg Madsen.
What is the first thing we should know about you?
I love animals, and my biggest wish right now is having two Alpacas in my garden, together with my two rabbits. I’m a social media/digital/online media sucker, but I never have my phone on me when I walk my dog or when I’m at a restaurant.
Work-wise you do?
As a B2B coordinater I make sure that all the initiatives from our sales department get executed on our different B2B platforms. I get to work with so many of the different departments in VILA, which means that I get to work with all kinds of great people every week. Lucky me!
What did you want to be when you were a child?
I wanted to be an animator for Disney or work at McDonald’s. I achieved the last thing when I was 14 years old. The animator thing has died a bit, since I’m horrible at drawing.
What is your signature style?
Black stockings. I’m not a major fan of pants. My favourite look is an under-the-knee skirt and a nice top – mixed with big Beyoncé-ghetto hoop earrings and sneakers.
What’s your biggest screw up style wise?
Too many to mention! When in high school, my friends and I glue glitter (using regular school-glue) on our faces to look cool at parties. Not good for our skin or our look! I guess we went for a New Kids on the Block rave-vibe.
If you could go back in history, what fashion era would you like to live in?
I don’t have a preferable fashion era, but I like people who can mix art and fashion like Vivienne Westwood or the Danish based Ukrainian artist Sergei Sviatchenko. His project CLOSE UP AND PRIVATE inspires me a lot. His children are old friends of mine and they are without a doubt, the best dressed family in Denmark.
What would you name your boat if you had one?
Snufkin, after the adventurous character from the Finnish Moomin Fairy-tale. I’m a Moomin fanatic. I’ve even named my bulldog Moomin and one of my rabbits Little My.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I love eating things directly from the package. Cereal, cheese, sausage. No need for a plate or cutlery!
New Year’s Eve is coming closer. How to get ready for a fantastic 2018 kick-off?
My New Year’s Eve will be very different from the previous years, as I’m not able to drink champagne nor wine. So, I’m focusing on getting a really over-the-top meal.
Right now, what are you excited about?
Becoming a mom. I consider myself a mom already to my bulldog and two rabbits, but I’m really looking forward to welcoming a little baby boy into our family.
What do you dream of?
More skirts and dresses for the party season. I love how the fabrics and qualities come in focus during the winter. Everything looks more exclusive during the party season. Below are my absolute favourites from the VILA AU Party Collection.
